Soft Focus: Michaela Červená Paints the Feeling of Remembering

This summer, Lavish Studio and NOOKART merge the worlds of contemporary art and curated living in Quiet Layers, a thoughtfully immersive exhibition by Czech artist Michaela Červená. On view from June 3 to August 31, 2025, the show transforms the Lavish showroom in Prague into an inhabited dream — a fully furnished apartment where art doesn’t just hang on walls, but breathes with the space, the light and the atmosphere.

“Painting becomes a way to hold onto these layers before they disappear,” Michaela says.

But what’s memory if not a place we visit over and over, even when its borders fade? That’s the essence of Quiet Layers — a series not made to be explained, but felt.

The exhibition concept — a fully designed apartment setting — reflects Lavish Studio and NOOKART’s shared vision: bringing art out of sterile white spaces and into the living, breathing environments where it naturally belongs. Michaela Červená’s paintings don’t dominate a room. They melt into it. They are silence, mood, shadow. They make space for emotion.

Michaela Červená (b. 1997, Karlovy Vary) belongs to a new wave of Czech visual artists redefining sensitivity as strength. Her work is a quiet rebellion against loud narratives — instead, she invites viewers into a softer, inner world. Educated in textile design at UJEP, with formative studies at MOME Budapest and Prague’s UMPRUM, she draws deeply from both the emotional and material qualities of cloth, color, and memory.
