Where to Get Your Matcha Fix in Prague? MAGPAPER’s Picks!

Let’s be honest: over the past year, matcha has completely taken over. Unlike coffee, it won’t hit you with an instant caffeine rush but instead gives you a steady, gentle release of energy. The catch? Plenty of cafés have jumped on the matcha wave, but not all of them care about quality or proper preparation. So, where should you go to avoid disappointment? MAGPAPER’s got you covered.

So, let’s grab some matcha! 🍵

Sensu

Jana Želivského 2934
A fairly new café near the Biskupcova stop, tucked away in one of the modern buildings. Here, they take their matcha very seriously. As the owner, Lukáš, mentioned in an interview for Forbes, he was looking for an alternative to coffee — and fell in love with matcha. And as we know, the best things always start from the heart.

The menu doesn’t stop at matcha: you’ll also find homemade desserts that look stunning and taste even better. Coffee fans won’t feel left out either, as their espresso game is strong. Still, matcha remains the star — they use ceremonial-grade powder and even traveled to Japan for sourcing! Their must-try summer drink? Matcha Cloud — a mix of coconut water and fluffy matcha foam. Hydration meets pure energy.

Jun Matcha Bar

Opletalova 921
A hot newcomer right in the city center. They’ve just wrapped up their trial run and are now fully open — so there’s no excuse not to stop by for your green fix.

Here, quality comes first, but the vibe deserves equal mention. The interior is perfectly Insta-friendly, and the drinks menu goes way beyond the classic matcha latte. Think creative twists like a matcha latte inspired by buchtička se šodó (a sweet Czech custard bun). Trust us, it tastes even better than it sounds.

Supernova Bakehouse

Na Zátorách 3, Thámova 16
No proper matcha list would be complete without my personal favorite. Supernova is both a café and a bakery — and they excel at both. With two very different locations, each space has its own unique atmosphere. Expect funky interiors, splashes of art, and creative soul everywhere you look.

My go-to? Their Earl Grey matcha paired with a cinnamon bun (trust me on this one — you won’t regret it). Supernova has a deep respect for craft, which shows in everything they do, right down to their thoughtful matcha offerings.

Blumery

Jiřího z Poděbrad Square, Přemyslovská 2
Last but not least: Blumery, a newly opened café/bistro where matcha isn’t just a sidekick. Alongside excellent matcha, their coffee menu is strong — from espresso to batch brew — so coffee lovers will feel right at home.

The interior is what won me over: long metal tables decorated with fresh flowers create a minimalist yet warm vibe. Clean, modern, but far from sterile. It’s the perfect spot to work on your laptop, meet up with friends, or simply enjoy a sweet bite with your matcha. Plus, the staff is incredibly friendly, which makes the whole experience even better.
